Project: In the German Toy Museum Sonneberg, 5,000 toys are waiting for their discovery. Germany's oldest toy collection displays toys from the beginnings to the present. Sonneberg and the surrounding region became one of the leading toy manufacturing areas in Europe during the 18th and 19th century. In the early 20th century, Sonnenberg's publishers dominated world trade and made Sonneberg the world toy city. The German Toy Museum, founded in 1901, is the visible document of one of the greatest toy metropolises that ever existed. After the comprehensive expansion, the outdoor facilities have now been made attractive, family-friendly and barrier-free for visitors.

The following speaks for Sonneberg: The collection is unique and an attraction for visitors. Here, the present meets the past. Thanks to the project funding, the district is becoming more viable, and Sonneberg is becoming a centre of attraction for visitors, which gives cultural tourism in Thuringia a boost.
