Salza-Tours König OHG is a family-run, medium-sized bus company based in Bad Langensalza. In addition to operating a public transport service in the districts of Unstrut-Hainich and Gotha, the company is also active in the pan-European rental coach business. General manager Mario König decided several years ago to reduce the company's carbon footprint and thus to contribute to low carbon mobility in Thuringia. With the help of ERDF Thuringia, he founded the model project Electric Bus Systems.

The bus company had already launched their first electromobility model test in 2016. At that time, the first two electro buses took up operations in the urban transport service of Bad Langensalza and were able to convince all along the line. In a second step, Salza-Tours König OHG will also deploy a bus with an electric drive in regional transport operations. In order to be able to accomplish this, the company first had to invest in the set-up of a charging infrastructure for electric mobility in public transport in 2019, including an innovative high-voltage DC energy storage system. By doing this, the prerequisites for the operation of a modern electro bus in interurban transport in the district of Unstrut-Hainich within the "UH-Südost" line bundle (regional lines 730, 735 to 738) had been created. An essential step concerning the need to reduce CO2 emissions in Thuringia.
