Project: Built around 1150 in the town of the same name (population including all districts - as of 2019: 6,522), Blankenhain Castle dates back to a Romanesque ring house castle. The shape of a closed, irregular oval gives the castle architectural rarity value. Blankenhain Castle is located in the town centre. This is very accommodating to its use for citizen engagement and cultural activities. It forms the town's cultural centre and can now be used to its full extent after a complete renovation of the ground floor. The library of the town of Blankenhain was also able to move back into the castle after the renovation. All rooms are barrier-free.

The Schlossplatz was redesigned as part of this measure. It can also be used as a festival ground and significantly revalues the castle's surroundings and inner-city area.

The following speaks for Blankenhain: Blankenhain is a very small town. Thus, a relatively small measure has a significant impact. The project ensures the conservation of historic structure, is classified both as urban construction and the strengthening of civic engagement.
