ERDF Annual Event 2015
In the current funding period, funding in the environment sector is concentrated in particular on flood protection and river development. A total of around 140 million euros (12 per cent of ERDF funds) is available for this purpose, 92 million euros of which are for flood protection alone. Flood protection measures are of great significance for the sustainable protection of existing economic and social infrastructure from the consequences of climate change. This is why the ERDF systematically funds these measures in Thuringia.
In Stedtfeld, not far from the conference venue, a planned ERDF flood protection project was vividly presented to the participants during an on-site visit.
In the current funding period, a total of around 1.165 billion euros in ERDF funding is available. Research and innovation account for the largest share, € 333 million or 29 % of ERDF funding. Another priority remains the strengthening of businesses' competitiveness with 283 million euros or 24% of ERDF funding.
